Search/Categories Not Working!
-
Hi,
I’ve been using the Chunk theme for a while, and am having a lot of issues with it. Most recently, the biggest issue is that my search and categories aren’t working. When I add a search option in the sidebar (which I’ve deleted for now) it just pulls up a blank page with a header and a link to older posts. The same goes for my categories.
I’m sure it’s something to do with my HTML code, but I’m not having any luck figuring out what it might be. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is an example of a category URL
http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/category/better-blogging/This is an example of the URL for a static page
http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/basic-blogging/You have created a slough of a static pages that will never ever automatically update. You need to make each one into a category and then assign it to the correct posts.
(1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) The static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we create do not automatically update.Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.
By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.
We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-creating-sub-menusWe can also add other items into a custom menu like static Pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages but as I said above no static Pages will ever automatically update.
There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.

re: Categories
Note that until you assign a Category to a post an publish it there is no data the software can display in any dynamic category page or in the categories widget. For creating Categories see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
For displaying Categories see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/Lastly note the WordPress.com search engine indexes post, pages, and comments content (body text). Unless entered as text in those contents, blog name, post titles, and post/comment author names are not indexed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpresscom-search/

Thanks, I’m not even as concerned about the categories as I am about the search function not being an option.
Search was working until recently when my site was infected with malware, and when I removed it all and reuploaded my themes the search stopped working.
