Right-Click Copy Block

    I think WordPress should develop code that enables right-click copy block, and give bloggers the option of using it. This will be particularly helpful for photography and artist blogs. Wix and Photodeck currently enable right-click copy block.

    I’m currently on a semi-private setting, requesting not to be indexed by search engines. Reason is because I was infringed commercially last year, and I know it was from my blog here. I know there isn’t a 100% fail safe guard against infringement, but I’d probably open up the blog more if right click copy block were an option.

    That’s not going to happen as it does not work.

    If you use the Duotone theme right click is disabled via CSS but that’s not available on any other themes. This is because anyone can find instructions on the internet and get around it in less than 20 seconds flat.

    Thank you for the reply. I understand it’s not something that will stop a motivated person.

    I’m just looking to discourage the simple visitor who just casually right-click copies and re-uses, mostly because they don’t know any better. It’s amazing how many people really don’t have any concept of copyright or how it works and public domain, Creative Commons, etc.

    I’m far from a copyright warrior, but any small amount of discouragement could go a long way for me, in my opinion. Case in point, the infringement I mentioned in the opening post was not by anybody sophisticated. I know who they are, simple local folks. Had right-click copy been blocked, they likely would’ve moved on. The issue was privately resolved but it would’ve been nice to avoid, too.
