Restore Previous Theme
Hi, just pressed ‘activate’ by mistake instead of ‘demo’ (thought it was like the ‘preview’ option) and can’t currently revert back to previous theme.
Is it possible to revert back to The Journalist v1.9?
The blog I need help with is chrisspyrou.com.
Hi there. I’m afraid there’s no undo or revert button for theme changes, so you’ll have to go search for the theme in the theme directory and activate it again.
I don’t see Journalist when I search the theme directory, so it’s probably a retired theme, but as you used it before you should still be able to search for and re-activate it from Appearance ->Themes in the WP-Admin dashboard.
Thanks, that worked.
Seems it’s lost all previous CSS though.
That can happen, I’m afraid. The code might still be in the Customizer, but you just need to save it again. If it’s not, you’ll have to redo it. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep a backup of your CSS edits in a text file. I know it’s too late now, but remember that for the future.
You can post to the CSS Cutomization forum if you need help with adding your own CSS to the site again: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform
Was able to restore a previous CSS revision.
Will play around to find which is closest to the original, but as it hasn’t been updated for 5 years, it may take a while.
Once again, thanks and much appreciated.
Glad kokkieh was able to help you out.
Just in case you didn’t see it, you can always access CSS revisions from the link in the Customizer’s CSS panel:
