Removing Symbol from Internet tab
-
If you search my blog on safari or chrome, the tab for the page has a • symbol next to the name “worldly wandering”
I want to remove this.
I tried following all of these steps and nothing happened. http://www.seolancaster.co.uk/how-to-remove-a-dash-from-a-wordpress-title/
Any advice?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
If you open the source code for your site, you can see that within the title element
<title>Worldly Wandering •</title>there is a bullet added by the “&bull”. Remove this in CSS editor and it should remove the bullet from your title.(FYI it’s in your Twitter title too, not sure if you want it there.)
Let me know if this works for you

Which category is this under when I go to appearance and then editor? Stylesheet (style.css)? I’m completely new to all of this!
-
Oh sorry, I was jumping ahead a little there.
Yes, style.css is the default name for your webpage’s source code. Once you have that open, it may look a little foreign, but we just need to focus on one little bit.
On line 14 of your style.css code, you’ll see a line of html that looks like this:
<title>Worldly Wandering •</title>Remove the &bull from that, and you will remove the bullet from your webpages tab!
Now, a little disclaimer: If this is your first time editing code, select the entire code before you change anything. Copy and paste it to a text editor. That way, if anything was to go awry you can just paste the original code back into the box, no harm no foul.
If you have any more questions or need clarification please don’t hesitate to post on this thread or email me. Also, if it works let me know how it turns out.
Best of luck!

P.S. The
<title>Worldly Wandering•</title>will look like that in the code, it won’t have a bullet point in it. -
worldlywandering.com is a wordpress.ORG software install on paid hosting, hosted by Bluehost, not by wordpress.COM and we do not provide support for it.
That site is not on our servers. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, support docs and support forums, and many people get confused about the two.
The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/
This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.com/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpackHowever, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
See also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/ for app support. -
^Gah, sorry, still getting used to the formatting on these forums. Ignore that last post. If you can’t find the &bull just let me know and we’ll move from there.

@tomservo0101
What I posted above is correct. We do NOT provide support for wordpress.ORG software installs at wordpress.COM. -

@tomservo0101
Yes, indeed I did post in between your responses to be helpful. Know that as the last thing we need here at wordpress.COM support is people posting who cannot separate wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG support issues, and direct those who need answers to the correct support forums.(Said with kindness and a smile by a person who has answered questions here for over 10 years, and who predates all wp.com support docs and all wp.com support staff being on staff, except one member.) :)

Those are some really impressive credentials @timethief!
What I meant was, my last post was meant to point to the incorrect formatted code in my other post, not yours. You just posted in the 50 seconds between the two posts.
I very much understand the difference between self hosted .ORG and WP hosted .COM, but sometimes I still get a little gung-ho and just jump right into the question. As you can see I’m still pretty new to the forums.
Thanks for all the hard work!

Aha! Now I understand.
I very much understand the difference between self hosted .ORG and WP hosted .COM
Good to know as about 30% of those who post here every day are actually posting to the wrong support forum.
As for being impressive MEH I’m just a support addict who has yet to kick the habit. :)
If you want to get on Staff read https://automattic.com/work-with-us/ and note that to impress existing Staff one could focus on answering CSS editing questions here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization
I answer the most repetitive questions asked day in a day out by choice as I’m multitasking from my business and can’t get into problem solving. ;)

Cool! Thanks for the info TT!
I will be submitting an application, but first I wanted to involve myself with the forums to familiarize myself and show some initiative :). I’m also honing my CSS/HTML/JS skills in the mean time.
I’m excited to be a part of this community, and as a veteran if you have any suggestions or tips they are always extremely welcome.
I’ll quit posting on this thread as I’m sure Rosyln is getting a million notifications, but thanks again for the help
