Removing columns on Footer
-
Hi – keen to know if it’s possible to remove the three column footer layout and replace with one or two columns?
Currently widgets are squashed into three columns but I want to open up the footer so there’s more space for widgets to run horizontally.
Any help or insight appreciated. Thanks!

Hello there,
Are you referring to this http://joannehookmakeup.wordpress.com/ site on the free plan?
The detailed theme description is here https://wordpress.com/theme/illustratr
Custom CSS https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/ is part of Custom Design https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/, which is a feature of the upgraded WordPress.com Premium and WordPress.com Business plans. To upgrade see here https://wordpress.com/pricing

Hi there, it can be made to display two widgets, each occupying half of the footer widget area, but this would require custom CSS, and that is part of the WordPress.com Premium and Business plans. It cannot be done otherwise.
If you should decide to upgrade, this would be the custom CSS that would be required. You would go to Customize > CSS, delete all the informational text in that window, and paste in the following custom CSS.
@media screen and (min-width: 1220px) { .widgets-area .widget { position: initial !important; width: 45% !important; } }
