Registered username disappeared and …

Some time ago, I registered as a user on wordpress as calex3531. That worked fine.
Recently I set up a website on tigertech.net called charlottealexander.com. I also set up a new user called Fabauthor on wordpress and used tiger’s installation. I put on a test post and all looked fine. Now, I can’t get into fabauthor because wordpress says it doesn’t exist. Today I tried making a new fabauthor user, which worked, but doesn’t recognize the website. There’s nothing but a test post on the website so it’s no problem to erase it and start over if I could find out how to do that.

WordPress.COM and independently hosted blogs using software from WordPress.ORG are entirely separate things. I’d bet you’re looking for the accounts to be registered here, when they’re really registered on teh independent install. You have to sign in from that blog, not from here.

I think that is what I did, but the user name didn’t show up there either! Thanks for answering. I will pester people on that site. :)

Okay – no help on the WordPress.org site; they said they only had forums for self hosting. Does WordPress have a help desk other than the forums?

Is tigertech.net a hosting provider where you installed WordPress? Then you did have a self-hosted WordPress blog after all. However, whatever username you created on that site only works on that particular site and nowhere else.
If you want to set up another self-hosted WordPress blog, then you really need to go to the WordPress.org support forums.
