Redux: Bogus Followers with Outlook Email Accounts

arbitrarydustbunnies – Yes, we are aware and working on this. If they aren’t already, please mark these as spam. Or, report the usernames here and I can do it.
The privacy options are listed in this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Write back to me here if you have any questions about those.

Thanks, suethomas1. Let me know if you have any trouble with that. Marking them as Spam will help our filters and security systems learn.

Liz, these aren’t emails about a comment, they’re emails telling me I have a new follower with an Outlook email address, but when I go to my site to check them out, they’ve disappeared. One email a day at least for at least two weeks, very irritating and concerning.

I am having the same issue as Mariebaca.
I get an automated email from WordPress saying I have a new follower. The follower’s email is always from Outlook. When I go to see them listed on my followers list they are not there.
My complaint is that I get daily emails from WordPress telling me I have a new follower that isn’t actually there.

The Outlook email followers are being removed as spam followers. This is why you aren’t finding them through your account dashboard. This is expected behavior.

lizkarkoski,
What evidence can users receive to know that WordPress is working to resolve this problem? I ask because these bogus Outlook email followers first came to me back in January 2018, and this is May 2018. I have read posts in another thread that said that WordPress is working to resolve this. Yet it persists.
Gabriel
