Redirection, Hosting Link, FAQ, /begs DrMike
Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, I mean DrMike…
Like many people WordPress.com opened my eyes to what wordpress can do, and I recently made the decision to go to one of the recommended hosting sites. With a bit too much youthful enthusiasm I read the the FAQ here about redirecting and assumed it was if not an immediate option, something that could be requested at a fee.
So my question – is there any way you can make redirection something that is available quickly? Could you add something to the options tab that would allow an address to be put in and if checked would insert the following into the main page of your blog:
<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”0;url=http://www.page_to_redirect_to.com”>
It would be also nice to be able to redirect the feed too.
You guys have done amazing things, being told to just a link saying that we are moving leaves me less than satisfied, and doesn’t do anything for any netwokrs we have joined that are referencing the old location.
If nothing can be done short term I understand.
Quick redirection – no, not really.
When I moved from my old blog to my current blog, I actually went back thru all my posts and added in a link to my new blog. (The cross poster actually does this now automatically.) For some reason, my old blog still get smore traffic then my new blog once you discount the picture uploading FAQ so I kept both going.
I know you don’t want to do it but your best bet would just be a link to your new site. It would show up in the RSS feed as well.
