Reblogged post of my site
-
The blog on WordPress, justiceforkevinandjenveybayliss reblogged my post, Why I’m a Feminist. It states on my site that all material is copyrighted and that re-use of it in any form is not allowed unless prior permission is obtained. I’ve contacted the blog owner and requested it taken off in the last half hour.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no way to prevent reblogging no matter what purpose the reblog was reblogged for. http://en.support.wordpress.com/reblogs/
-
Also note that http://justiceforkevinandjenveybaylis.webs.com/ is NOT even hosted by WordPress.com so the post was not “reblogged” because only those hosted by WordPress.com have access to that feature.
Regarding breaches of copyright you need to ascertain the web host and send them a DMCA takedown notice. This is not a WordPress.COM issue. justiceforkevinandjenveybaylis.webs.com Is hosted by Internap Network Services Corporation

I understand now about reblogging. No wonder I can’t find the widget in the dashboard to take it away. Except that their site address is http://justiceforkevinandjenveybaylis.wordpress.com/ Surely that clearly states that it is a wordpress.com site?
-
You did not provide that URL up front so I used Google and located their other site. Yes this site is hosted by WordPress.COM. http://justiceforkevinandjenveybaylis.wordpress.com/
No they do not have to remove the reblog. -
-
If they have in fact not used the reblog feature which provides only a properly attributed excerpt, but have stolen the full post then you can act on that.

It’s properly attributed. Which may sound as if my complaint is without foundation. I just like being told beforehand. There are some sites one doesn’t want one’s material to be feature on. They reblog dozens of posts.
-
When I find a site filled with reblogs I report that site to Terms of Service site, as it ought to be made private. Go to the front of the WordPress.com blog and hover over the Admin bar on the left hand side. Click the “report this content” link and proceed to complete the form.

If you haven’t already disabled the reblog feature, you can go to
Dashboard > Setting > Sharing
Scroll down toward the bottom and click on ” Don’t show the Reblog button on posts.” Then hit “Save.”
The way I understand it, disabling only applies to your site, other WP bloggers can still reblog from the Reader.

As ifmomsaysok said we cannot disable reblogs from displaying in the Reader. So after you disable the reblogs on the Sharing page you may want to go to > Settings > Discussion and enable this so you know what’s going on with reblogs from the Reader:
E-mail me whenever
Anyone posts a comment
A comment is held for moderation
Someone likes one of my posts
__Someone reblogs one of my posts
Someone follows my blog
“save changes” -
I’ve marked the copyright infringement item and it gets me to a form to fill in but I may be held liable for costs of a possible dispute. It’s a bit scary.
-
Sigh ..
I did not recommend clicking that option for the simple reason that unless the full post was stolen and not this is not just a reblog which is allowed you don’t have copyright claim that can be made. However, you can click the report as spam and tell Staff the blog is full of reblogs and ought to be made private, if that is indeed the case. -
I’ve already asked for an email regarding reblogs and when someone follows my blog. I’ll follow your tips to lessen the chances of a reblog. And will report it as spam. Thank you very much!
-
Follow timethief’s advice, and mark the site as Spam if it’s main content is reblogs.
As per WP Support Documents:
“Please note, though, that reblogging is not the same as lifting an entire post without attribution, and so WordPress.com will not remove reblogged posts under the DMCA. If you’re not comfortable with others being able to reblog your content, you may want to make your site private.”

This is what I do on my posts. I have a copyright page. Every post I create has a 55 word strong introduction (teaser text) followed by the more tag so only excepts display on the front page and in the Reader. Then immediately after the more tag I insert my copyright notice link which is linked to my copyright page.
Any content reblogged from one cool site must adhere to the terms of © Copyright. All Rights Reserved.

Note that my copyright notice is also found in a text widget at the bottom of my sidebar.
