Reading setting not working
-
Hi,
Thanks for the opportunity for me to blog. I now have a problem, the theme Koi that I am using is now not complying with the Reading that I set to 5. It keeps on scrolling forever. It just happened today. Thanks again.
Warmest regard.

You’ve been “infinite scrolled.” Everyone, every theme here will eventually have it.
Read through this post by timethief on some options for shutting it off. Do note that these options (loop holes) might be patched at anytime, so even if you turn it off now, at some point in the future it very well might come back and there won’t be anyway to shut it down.

To disable it you simply go to Appearance > Widgets and drag a Text widget to one of the footer areas, then go to Settings > Reading, uncheck the option “Scroll Infinitely” and click Save Changes.

Thanks justpi. I will copy that and keep it in mind. After reading the notion behind the implementation, I will leave it as it is for now. Maybe I will implement it if however wordpress decided to leave the loophole alone.

@asahjaya
Let’s be clear about this. There is no “loophole”. We bloggers lobbied Staff long and hard to have an infinite scroll opt out and one was provided by Staff for themes that have footer widgets. For themes that don’t have footer widgets we switch to one that does have footer widgets, install an empty text widget in any footer widget area, then disable infinite scroll on the Reading pag, and then switch back to using our original theme. I did this on day one and many others have been doing it too. The opt out is no likely to be taken away as many people paid for CSS editing and chose theme with footer widgets. You don’t need to wait > See 3 (a,b,c) here > Disabling Infinite Scroll on your WordPress.com Blog -

Hey thanks timethief. So its no loophole but a backdoor instead. Nice.
Warmest regards to all that replied.

a) The theme you’re using supports footer widgets, so you don’t need to switch to a different theme to disable the feature.
b) Users who have the Custom Design upgrade can also disable it via CSS editing – see here: -
