read more doesn't work

Hi, I’ve read a bunch of the forums on this specific topic. I’m very new, don’t know html code, and I don’t really understand most of the “answers”. In my post I added the read more which shows up as <!–more–> in the text view, but when I view the post, there isn’t any evidence that it’s there. From the other forums I made sure I was using full text under settings/ reading. I’m not using “excerpts” that I know of. I just want a break after the first couple paragraphs of text, so that it isn’t too long in post after post. What should I check for? If I need to change some code, please be really, really specific because I don’t know where to find many things. Many thanks for any advice.

Hi. You seem to have only one post at https://crystalrainpool.wordpress.com, and it’s a very short one. On which blog/website are you having the trouble you describe. Please provide the address of (or link to) the site, and a link to a post in which you’ve placed a more tag that is not functioning properly.

From the other forums I made sure I was using full text under settings/ reading.

The “full text” option under Settings > Reading has no effect upon posts. That affects only feeds.

and how is it possible to set up “read more” button on “blog” page, that not shows the complete post, only some shortcuts?

Thank’s for telling me about that other site. I have no idea what that is, nor why it’s connected to me. I’ll have to look into that. Weird.
