Publishing different posts in two different locations

  • My site is primarily book reviews. When I publish a post the excerpt and link appear on the homepage which I like. However, I have a page called Bookish Blog and I want to make daily posts for just this page, but anytime I publish, the excerpt appears on the homepage, which I do not want. I have tried looking into query loops, blog post block, and shortcode, but I cannot get anything to work right. With query loops and blog post blocks the layouts just pull in the already published posts and the shortcode did not work. Can anyone please help me?

  • Hello there,

I suggest you create an additional category to filter the posts to display on a homepage. This will require you to create and use a custom homepage instead of your current settings, which display the latest blog posts on the homepage. On this custom homepage, you will add a Query Loop that filters that category.

You can find more information about Query Loop here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/query-loop-block/

Our guide for setting a custom homepage can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/
