Promotion Ideas/Suggestions
-
My website is a Michigan Sports Insider in everything Michigan (ie, Red Wings, Pistons, Wolverines, Spartans, Tigers). We’ve been looking to promote our blog through Facebook and Twitter which have worked but want to expand it more. We’ve been handing out business cards to local stores and people at sporting events but just can’t get over this road bump. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to market a blog so specific to only Michigan sports? Thanks for any and all advice in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have I didn’t find any of them specifically helpful. I’m looking for a more specific answer to my type of blog that isn’t general to every user.

Appears to me your on track. The old fashioned rules still apply. Don’t be in a rush and don’t interfere when your competition is making mistakes. Keep plugging away and employ every technique possible to get mind share. Success is 99% sweat and 1% inspiration.

you could advertise on facebook they allow you to specify a budget and you can selective target people based on their location and interests.

@tpsreport – Yea thanks i’ve looked into that and it looks like the best bet, thanks steven my brother and I have been putting a lot of work into it…

Word of mouth and multiplication is a great form of advertising
tell 5 people to tell 5 people 5 x 5 = 25, might seem simple and cheesy, but it works especially if your at school or another heavily populated locations wwhere people who your same interests are.
trying different methods does help alot

It’ okay for you to go ahead and laugh at me. I posted a link to your own post in the Showcase Forum and suggested you may want to make contact with yourself …. oops! :D :D :D -
thanks webmistress27 we have business cards we’ve been handing out to people and giving them extras to friends so that’s been working. It’s just hard to get consistent, interested viewers everyday. Thanks for all the tips!

Do “Tags” in your posts help out a lot? I have posted over 50 posts and don’t know if I want to go back and add tags to each one if it won’t help or if I should just start now.
-
The short answer to your question is: Yes, relevant tags do help potential readers using search engines to locate your blog posts.
Categories and tags are treated the same way by search engines. They are keyword terms that are indexed by search engines, just as the keyword terms in the titles, subtitles and bofd of your posts are indexed. When potential readers type for example “Michigan sports” into search engines then those indexed blog posts that do have that category/tag assigned to them will appear in search results.

If you go to my blog and types this post title into the searchbox “Blogging Tips: Tags to Increase Traffic ” you may find my advice in it to be helpful.

Got that right “tmoney0882” timethief has almost all the answers. Wonderful to have such people on here that can help out.
Keep up the good work your doing tmoney0882. Being a Marketer is not all that easy. Also you might want to consider pinging your websites and even blog sites @ http://www.pingler.com/.
They only allow you to ping your site once a day. When you do, they have a vast amount of Categories were you can ping them too.

No, those aren’t accurate terms at all for you. The accurate term for a person who link drops on technical support blogging forums is spammer. and anyone who would trust a legal practitioner with property conveyance when he is indeed a spammer would be correctly labeled fool. -
