Problems Uploading Portrait Images…Appearing as Landscape

When uploading portrait jpg images into my posts, they import as landscape.
I have read two previous posts on this subject already, followed the suggestions but the problem is still not corrected.

My setup:
Mac OS X
Browser: Firefox 2.0
Camera: Canon PowerShot 450
Photos stored in my HD “Pictures” folder — never edited in iPhoto, uploaded there directly from camera

I’ve tried already, unsuccessfully:
* to import photo as pdf
* changing to Safari
* adjusting photo direction and resaving
* uploading as Flash upload and Browser Upload (what is the difference?)

Please Help!

Are you sure the photos are tilted the right way on your computer? Some previews will show them the right way, (clever software) but they are saved as standing format, if you see what I mean.

I have uploaded the same photos in blogger without any problem.

Hm, I see. Just had to ask, to make sure. Is it the wrong way in your media library too? Or just in the post? How big are the photos?

yes, image direction is incorrect in thumbnail and media library as well as post.

Image Dpi: 180 dpi
Size: 3072 x 2304

it would appear so.
but this is the same size of all my photos.
I don’t resize them.
The landscape images are this size and upload without any problem.

Do you resize your images?
What is the size the images s/b?
Do you have any suggestions?

I am pulling my hair out.
I’m testing wordpress to switch my blogger site over.
I will not if I can not get this resolved!

I resize all web images to about 800 and medium quality. It is usually more than good enough for the web, and you don’t get loading time. I have no idea if that is relevant or not, and hopefully someone more knowledgeable in this will pop up soon…sorry I don’t know.

But I would have deleted one of them, resized on your computer, rename it and upload again. Just to see.

It’s now working!
I imported the images into iPhoto, resized them (adjusted width to 300, allowing height to float to whatever needed to keep ratio), exported them back onto my HD and then uploaded the resized images. Success!! All portrait photos are upright as they should be.
