Primary sites jetpack connection

  • This site was hacks several years back and I am trying to get it back up and running for my bosses. The reader works fine, but when I click to ‘my site’ I get a notification saying to ‘please check your primary sites jetpack connection wp-admin’ when I click on wp-admin from the notification it takes me to the site. I’m guessing that the site needs major updates because it hasn’t been used in a few years since the hack. I need to get this site back up and running so I can update the site itself. What do we need to do?

  • Hi there,

    Are you referring to http://civilsgf.com/?

That site is not hosted with us, but using the open source WordPress.org software, hosted at another provider (the domain’s DNS is managed by CloudFlare.com, so if you’re unsure where you’re hosting this site you’ll need to contact them for more info).

The site is connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin, and based on that plugin’s debugger at https://jetpack.com/support/debug/?url=http://civilsgf.com/, it’s having some trouble communicating with your site. That’s why you see this error message on WordPress.com.

Please contact your hosting provider and make sure they’re not blocking XML-RPC on that site, as that’s what Jetpack uses to communicate with your server:

    Jetpack

For updating WordPress itself, and any themes and plugins you have installed, please ask for advice at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ – that’s where you’ll find support for the version of WordPress you’re using.
