Primary Domain Change
-
Good day,
I recently purchased a plan and hoped my new site would be more and easily accessible. However, it seems my new domain still requires further upgrade, the site still reflect a free domain with wordpress at the end. Importantly, (the site does not give me an option to make my new domain the primary address). How do I go about this? Thank you.

Hello
For this you would need to set a custom domain as the primary site address, To setup primary address please refer to this Support page doc here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/#set-a-primary-address.
Let us know if you have any further queries.

Hi there,
What plan did you buy, and for what site?
In the account you’re using to post here I don’t see any plan purchases, only a domain purchase, with your site still on the free plan. You can view your current upgrades here:
https://wordpress.com/me/purchases
And your purchase history here:
https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing
While you can add a domain to a free plan site, traffic to that domain will be redirected to your free WordPress.com address.
If you want your custom domain to appear in the browser address bar when someone visits your site, you’ll need to upgrade your site to a paid plan.

Thank you for your prompt response Kokkieh. I believe I may have made a purchase for a domain instead of a full plan. Kindly advise on how to go about purchasing a plan when I already have a domain?
Thank you.

You can purchase a plan at any time from https://wordpress.com/plans
Plans include a free domain, and the domain you purchased is still within the refund period, so skip the free domain portion and please let us know when you’ve purchased the plan, and we can issue a refund for the $18 you spent on the domain.

Thank you very much, Macmanx. I wish to make the purchase now. How do I notify you once I’ve made the purchase?
Regards,

Just reply here when you’ve purchased the plan, and we’ll take care of refunding that $18 and attribute the domain to the new plan instead. :)

If you can also just advise on how I can go about reviewing and complimenting your excellent assistance, second-best to none.
Thank you

I have issued a refund for the $18 spent on the domain and attributed it to the plan as its free domain instead.
The refund has been sent, but depending on your credit card provider, it can take up to 10 days for them to display it on your statement. They may also process it as a reversal, meaning the original charge may simply be removed.
We don’t have a formal way to review service on the forums, but your kind words are very much appreciated. :)
