Posting for other people

  • Hi — I am running a blog called Food Junta (http://wordpress.foodjunta.com) that has multiple authors. As more people start posting, some of them don’t want to bother with setting up a WordPress account. I am wondering if there is a way for me to post as them — that is paste their post from a Word doc they send me into a post, but labeled with their name as the author name, not mine. Does that make sense?

    Thanks,
    Claire

  • Word is a big problem. It will screw up your blog in ways you can’t even imagine, and take a long time to fix. See this thread for specifics:

A better suggestion is if they just email you the text as plain text (Notepad or similar) and maybe attach any images they want to use and you do the formatting yourself. That’s a lot more work for you now, but a lot less later, because the blog won’t get broken that way.

I suppose, on thinking it over, they could use an offline blog editor like Blogdesk or Ecto or Windows Live Writer and send you those files; they work just like the blog, but don’t cause the problems Word does. Those will let them format and even tag and categorize.
