Post Made Private?
-
Okay, this is strange. My post today, “Jesus Found Dead in His Grave” —
http://urbansemiotic.com/2007/02/25/jesus-found-dead-in-his-grave/
— was public for most of the day and then the article was mysteriously made “Private” and I’m not the one who did it.
I realize the topic may not be a popular one, but my article was merely commenting on an article that was published in the Time Blog.
I did not re-edit my article to reflect any “Private” status. Did someone on the backend go in and change the status of my post? No one else on my staff has status above “Contributor” level.
What’s going on here?

Sometimes I’ve had things go wonky on me and I send in a feedback and it was all resolved. It’s not that they did anything before but just something weird in the stars and cosmo that went wacky.

nosy’s right; this is an odd little error that shows up from time to time. You should be able to just go into the Privacy options and change that back. Let us know if this doesn’t work.

Raincoaster is right to say to say nosy is right. It’s an odd and rare bug that happens.
Sorry… -
Thanks folks!
The second I saw my post was missing I went in to Admin and found it marked “Private” — and that was a chilling moment. I immediately switched it back to “Published.”
I hope this is a bug that gets fixed soon!

It’s a wacky feeling, drmike, to have an article with lots of comments, suddenly disappear.
I was on my handheld at the time when the current article wasn’t showing. I brushed it off as a handheld cache issue until I returned home and fired up the Mac to see the article gone from general view and marked “Private.” Crazy!

I got bitten again.
It happened on this article:
http://urbansemiotic.com/2006/03/28/the-high-cost-of-being-poor/
I had to change the author and and when I did and then saved the post it was changed to “Private” from “Published.”

This was a problem in WordPress core. It was resolved mid-April on WordPress.com and was in the next WordPress.org release.
