I can’t seem to get my header picture on my home page to be the same as my blog header picture? How can I edit the home page main image at the top and change the size and such? Is this theme able to have a different header image on the home page? Any help you can offer would be so appreciated! Thank you so much for your time! :)
    This is my blog (https://ashleyjeanelleparkins.wordpress.com/)

The blog I need help with is ashleyjeanelleparkins.wordpress.com.

Every theme has a detailed theme description page and this one is at https://wordpress.com/themes/gateway/ That’s where set up instructions for it are found. Make sure you read it closely.

    Custom Header Image
Abstract and decorative background images will work best as Custom Header images. The recommended header size for Gateway is 2560 pixels wide by 640 pixels high. https://wordpress.com/themes/gateway/

The live demo site is at https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/

All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/
Search for custom header there https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=custom+header
    Results https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-header-image/

Can I ask you one more question? I changed my theme to Dara, this other one was just not working out for me! Is there a way to restore the new theme I’m using to it’s default and remove all my stuff I had so I can start over with customizing my blog?

    Thank you!

    re: switching themes

Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do a lot of work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme with different features and/or if you have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

Yes, I switched themes, but want the new Dara one I’m using to be back to it’s defaults without my changes I had in my prior theme? Is there a way to make it all shiny and new to re-start customizing it again with it’s original header back and things?

There is no such thing as a theme reset button. We just undo whatever we did.

You must be logged in under the username account that registered the site first. Then to empty the site you have two options:
    (1) Doing this quickly and easily yourself
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/
    (2) Waiting in a queue and having Staff do it for you.

If you have a lot of content Staff can empty the whole blog for you. That will remove all data including posts, pages, tags, categories, comments, and uploaded files and once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blogs and/or blog content does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):
    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6332384?hl=en&ref_topic=1724262&vid=0-635749429504660340-12158368555624983465&rd=1

If you are sure you want Staff to proceed, and you are prepared to wait then type modlook into the tags in the sidebar of this thread for Staff attention, and post here again to:
    (1) confirm the URL of the blog(s) you want them to empty;
    (2) confirm that you know content deletion is irreversible.

Okay, I can see that I can delete all my stuff in my new website based on the tutorials that are linked in your emails….but how to I get Dara’s original content back onto my blog? Their original header and things?

    #2873625

Never mind I got it, whew! This has a learning curve, but I’m getting it. :)
