I am having a problem with pictures not showing on front page of certain themes. Oxygen, autofocus and hatch are a couple of them. How do I get the pictures to show on main page?
The blog I need help with is fallynportaldotcom.wordpress.com.
Every theme has a detailed theme description page. Have you consulted the them and noted the dimensions for images? When it comes to featured images the dimensions have to be spot on.
Example: Hatch

Make sure every featured image is the exact size specified for the theme and they will display. Scroll down to “Featured Images” on the theme description page http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/hatch/

Blog/Archive pages: 220 x 150
Single Posts: 640 wide, flexible height
Logo: 115 wide, flexible heightIf you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options. http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options
AutoFocus – detailed theme description
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/autofocus/AutoFocus’ prominent single post featured images, which when set manually are placed front and center, above your post’s title and content. The maximum width of single post featured images is 800.

If you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options.AutoFocus responds to not only single image posts but also full galleries. If you would prefer to forego a large featured image above your post content and instead showcase an entire set of photos then simply insert a gallery into your post without manually setting a featured image.
Main page and archive pages on Autofocus don’t rely on featured images. Featured images have to be set manually to each post. Each post on the main page and on category/archive pages will display a regularly inserted image (provided the image had been uploaded via the Add Media button of that post).
The only difference is when you view a single complete post: regular image shows below the post title, max width 590px, featured image shows above the post title, max width 800px.
Oxygen – detailed theme description http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/
In Oxygen you can either have a Home page that displays your posts or a static front page ie. a Showcase template. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/#setting-up-a-static-front-page
Page templates can be set under the “Page Attributes” section on the page editor screen. For more information on Page Attributes:

When you first activate Oxygen, you’ll see your posts in a traditional blog format but if you’d like to showcase your content in an online magazine-like fashion, then you can use the Showcase Page template. …Post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide, unless you make the post Sticky to show off in the featured slider, in which case they’re 750 pixels wide. Keep in mind: if you mark a post as Sticky but the featured image is less than 750 pixels wide, then it won’t display in the slider and will still disappear from the river of posts.
Please be aware that you cannot crop the sticky post thumbnails. And if you do not set featured images then gray boxes will appear.
Sticky post thumbnails are 750 pixels wide in the featured slider
Regular post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide

Oh wow!! Thank you so much!!! I never thought about sizes…
Featured image sizes and correct image profiles are critical to display.
