pdf in a post or page

  • Dear Support,
I would like to post a pdf but not for downloading, just for the students to watch it directly from the wordpress screen.
Each time I have tried to do that, it opens a window to download.

    Thank you
    Juliette

  • If you wish to embed the actual document into a post or page, you can use external services such as Scribd or Slideshare.

  • Dear Kardotim,

Thank you very much, I will try that.
    I have an other question.
    On Frenchagain.com (wordpress)
I am trying to make a page that would be the result of a category filter.
    for example
I would like a page redirected to http://frenchagain.com/category/le-journal/

I have tried to write code and it doesn’t work.
Could you help me with that?

Again thank you very much for your helpful answers.
    Juliette

  • Unfortunately, that level of customization is a bit beyond what you can do at WordPress.com

Instead, have you considered building your own menu?

  • Dear Macmanx,

Super, it took me a little bit of time to find out where to find what exactly, but it works perfectly…
Super easy, efficient, great option! FrenchAgain is starting to work.

    An other question?
Can I please, embed an internet page into a WP page.
To be more clear, I have designed internet pages for my students that are stored on an other of my website. If I copy paste the html code into a post it looks crappy.
Can I embed or link my html page into a post or a page?
I used to use the Ning menus before I moved to WP, there I just put an address as a page.
Can I do something similar under wordpress? or do you have an other way to make it happen?
    I really appreciate your help,

    Thank you very much,

  • You can’t embed a whole webpage, but you can link to it: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

  • Dear Macmanx,

    Thank you very much,

Yes I am very familiar to these.
What I would like to do, is when a user clicks on a submenu’s choice to be automatically redirect to a web page of my creation.
The pages I build with dreamweaver can be super nice. When I try to copy paste the code into a post (under html mode) it is never the same.

I also have a problem with videos I publish with captivate (reasonable size 5mo).
I have been trying to upload a video http://juliettebourdier.com/FrenchAgain/Films/Conjuguer%20les%20verbes%2012juin2012.swf
To insert it into a teaching post.
I use media, add a media… I have been using this to upload all my pictures into the gallery.
When I try with the video, it always make a error.
So I have to upload my videos into Youtube to be able to embed them into a post.
But I really don’t like the idea to have to use youtube.

It is quit hard for me, I have been using Ning forever and am so use to their advantages and also their limits.
Since I moved to WordPress, I really enjoy many of the features but I struggle too…;-)
Wordpress is really neat, but it is also so professional, I had to use a tech to build bruitdemoquette.com, the result is great though.
Now with FrenchAgain.com… it is hard.
    ;-(

  • Dear Macmanx,

My apologies, I found how to use a link as a menu choice (it was so easy… didn’t see it), thank you though.

    I still can’t seem to find a way to upload a video…

    Thank you so much,
    I really appreciate.
