PayPal Button Not Formatting Correctly on WordPress.com

  • Trying to add a PayPal button to my website. I have followed all the steps at PayPal and the button showed up on my site formatted incorrectly as a basic 2-row table with prices. But no yellow PayPal button. I know that I’ve done everything correct on the PayPal button site because I tested the code on PayPal’s Testbed page. http://www.jmarshall.com/easy/html/testbed.html. Which means that the problems resides on the WordPress.com side.

Do you know why WordPress.com won’t format a PayPal button correctly? Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Are you using the steps outlined in the WordPress. com Support document? If not, please go here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/

Each step is very specific on what you are and are not able to do.

    Let me know. :)

  • Hi Mariah Pierson,

Thank you. That worked. Extremely pleased to get this done. Thank you.

I’ve got the button in a sidebar widget. I guess it is okay to add additional pricing in that same Text Widget but just below the PayPal button, yes? I’d like to give the button a label above it as well. That is fine, correct?

  • One other question if I may. It’s a different question, so it may not be in your wheelhouse of expertise.

I changed the names of one of the pages. The old name I had on the page was WordPress.com Supprot. I changed that to Digital Guides. I changed the permalink to Digital-Guides as well, and that took. If you click on that page, WordPress.com Support, you will see the title Digital Guides. But I can’t get that Digital Guides to show up in the menu name. I made changes with other pages and those changes stuck. This one however has not. Would you might know why? Thank you.

  • Gabriel,

You’re welcome. I apologize for the delay in my response.

I believe you would have to create multiple buttons in order to reflect different prices.

For the menu item not changing to Digital Guides…

Are you making that change on the page? Click on My Sites>Pages>locate the page and click edit.

  • Mariahpierson,

Thank you so much for your replies and very useful links. Because I get stuck on solving detailed tasks I overlook easier solutions. I simply copied the contents from the page whose title I didn’t like and pasted those same contents into a new page with the title I preferred. Problem solved. But I think I would still be banging my head over how to change the permalink. Doh! Thank you so much for your great efforts.

  • You’re very welcome!

I completely understand. I’m glad you’ve got it figured out. ;)
