oulipo right side bar

I want to add sidebars to the left of my blog and also upload my own lettering/text for the name on the side (its shown in orange on the oulipo theme preview)
Can someone tell me how?

The CSS upgrade cannot be used to add a sidebar to pages which do not have one already. That would require hacking of the underling PHP script files, which we cannot do on free hosted WordPress.com blog.
