Old domain, account, email issue

Hello, sorry in advance for this incredibly specific and abstract problem. About a year ago I bought the domain oliviawhen.com through wordpress. It was on another account, which I can no longer access because I don’t recall the password and the email that was designated to it has been deleted by gmail. It seems it was auto-renewed, but I haven’t been billed yet. I’m really just wondering if there’s anything I can do about this, because I’ve run out of ideas.

I tried contacting wildwestdomains, who I know the domain came through, but because I bought it through wordpress, they replied that they couldn’t help me, and directed me to wordpress support. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello, I´ve some kind of the same problem.
My issue is that about a year ago I also mapped my domain viveverde.cl trough my magopies.wordpress.com account; and about 5 or 6 months ago I quited the service becouse I learn how admin my domains with dreamhost.

I´ve edited my page registration Servers with mines, but dreamhost keep answering: “You can’t add that domain: already in our system “

So, if you could delete it from your server so I can host the domain trough dreamhost too and adminstrate it via FTP would be great!

    Thanks!

quiietriiot, that domain expired on May 20 and is owned by the wellokay user with a req[…] (at) ymail.com email address. Do you have access to this email address, the transaction ID from your last receipt, or the account’s API key?

magopies, that is an entirely separate problem which you’ll need to contact Dreamhost about.

Oh my goodness! I completely mistook it for an email shut down by gmail! Awesome. Okay, I do have access to that one, and looking through it, it does look like it expired. Which is what I want, since I’d like to buy it through my current web host. Do you know why it would say otherwise on whois?

Anyway, thank you so much, and I’m really sorry to have troubled you with this!

Expired domains become the property of our registrar partner and are only returned to the public market at their discretion. We have no control over how long that takes.

I may be able to recover and renew it for you, but there may be an extra fee involved. Would you like me to check?

That makes sense. Yes please, that would great!

Actually, this hasn’t been expired for too long, so you should be able to renew the domain yourself from Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.

Thanks so much! That was helpful.
Do you happen to know if I need to wait another 60 days to transfer to another registrar, since it had to be renewed?

  • staff-blorbo · Staff · May 23, 2012 at 6:09 pm

Yes, that is correct. By law, domains cannot be transferred within 60 days or registration, renewal, or nameserver change.

However, you can change the nameservers to point just about anywhere at any time: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
