Not uploading from Facebook

  • My blog ‘Gifts Are Good’ is not appearing on my stats page leading me to believe that people are having problem reading it. When I go to my facebook page and try to click the blog link I am getting a WordPress message on my blog page:

    NOT FOUND, ERROR 404
The page you are looking for no longer exists

So I guess this is what everybody is getting when they try to log on.

But I can read the post no problem when I click on posts:

    Gifts are good!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

My blog ‘Gifts Are Good’ is not appearing on my stats page leading me to believe that people are having problem reading it.

Can you tell me a little more about where you are viewing your stats? Are you looking in the site dashboard or are you looking in your global stats dashboard here: http://wordpress.com/my-stats/

When I checked, I could see stats going back to when you first created your site, so I can confirm that they are being collected as they should. Can you try clearing out your browser’s cache and cookies, try a different browser, or a different computer if you can, and see if the problem persists?

If you’re not sure about how to clear your browser cache, you can learn more about how to do this here:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

When I go to my facebook page and try to click the blog link I am getting a WordPress message on my blog page:
    NOT FOUND, ERROR 404
The page you are looking for no longer exists

Are you having trouble with the link back to a blog post you are sharing on your Facebook page, or are you referring to a different link to your blog from FB? Can you share the link that you are getting here so that I can take a closer look?

    Thanks for the additional info!

  • Thanks for response. However, I decided to delete that blog entirely. I copied & pasted the contents onto a new blog of same name and reposted. It worked. Was just some corruption on the old post I think. Gremlins at work! Thanks anyway.

But can you look at my weekly photo challenges. A constant problem. When I search Weekly Photo Challenge under ‘Tags’ I can see the WPC posts of everyone else but not mine. Why? Latest post is ‘Grand’. I do not care that it appears in ‘Reader’. I want it to also appear in Tags where everybody logs on to take a look.

  • Hi there

A constant problem. When I search Weekly Photo Challenge under ‘Tags’ I can see the WPC posts of everyone else but not mine. Why? Latest post is ‘Grand’. I do not care that it appears in ‘Reader’. I want it to also appear in Tags where everybody logs on to take a look.

To make it easy for others to check out your photos, be sure to use the “postaday″ tag. Currently you are not using that tag on your WPC posts, and that is what will put it on the same tag page that others who are taking the challenge are doing.

You can see full instructions for participating in these challenges at the bottom of the post here, and all WPC posts: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/12/06/grand-photo-challenge/

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Again my ‘Community’ post has not uploaded even though I have tagged it exactly ‘Weekly Photo Challenge: Community’. And I do not agree that I did not tag the others correctly – can you explain your comment – Currently you are not using that tag on your WPC posts

Or am I still making some mistake?

  • Hi there,

You need to use this tag in all your posts you want to appear in the Photo Challenges:

    “postaday″

So add it to the tag box, when editing your posts, as shown here: https://cloudup.com/cY3klovboFT+

    Hope that helps.

  • Thanks. Not that it matters, but in the past all my posts uploaded only when I tagged them with the subject matter of the WPC.
    Thanks again!

  • You can add that tag as well, and a lot of people do: http://wordpress.com/tag/wpc/

However, to show in the right place, you will want to be sure that you add the “postaday” tag to show up on the official tag page.

  • Hi yet again!
As experiment I made another ‘Weekly Photo Challenge: Community’ post – called ‘Community (2)’. And tagged it like you said. But still not uploading.

For many months now none of my WPCs have uploaded. And I am sure many people do not tag their efforts ‘postaday’. When I read that explanation many times in the past I assumed it actually meant the subject matter (such as ‘Community’ this week) and not literally the nonword ‘postaday’.

Am thinking something more fundamental is blocking the uploads. Any further thoughts?

I have confirmed that it has loaded, as you can see here: https://cloudup.com/ccAu1Buguue+

You can confirm this yourself, by going to http://wordpress.com/tag/postaday/

Please note that the tag page is displayed in chronological order, so you will need to scroll for a bit to see it. This is an active tag page, so even though you have posted just a few hours ago, many people have posted more recently than that.

I understand, and see why that may have been confusing. In this case, you must literally add the non-word tag of “postaday” as that is what is called for in the challenge. Here it is from the guidelines that are found at the bottom of each WPC post:

“2 – To make it easy for others to check out your photos, title your blog post “Weekly Photo Challenge: (theme of the week)” and be sure to use the “postaday″ tag.”
