Not Sending pingbacks
-
I’ve done any amount of adding and deleting of characters and resaving and it does not work.
-
Hi, the pingbacks worked on my latest post. I am not sure it is worth going back over the last two months to update my other posts. To be honest, I am not sure what the purpose is of the pingbacks. And what is the Daily Post? Sorry for my ignorance…
-
It’s working now for the previously published posts after updating.
How to do it in a “block edit”:
Go to the classic dashboard, then click under Posts, All Posts, then click Published, then click the box next to the previous posts that need to be edited. (You can adjust the number that shows in the list at the top of the page under Screen Options, if necessary.) Then choose Edit under the Block Actions drop-down menu, then in the tags or categories make a change of some sort.
What I did was click on a category that all the posts had in common. The category was already listed on these posts so no changes were made.
If you don’t have a change in tags or categories for all your previous posts, make one up, do the bulk edit then delete that “new” one you just made.
It sounds complicated, but it is really fast. I use Bulk Edit all the time. It doesn’t work in the “new, too-blue, WP” list of all posts because WP eliminated that feature. You must use the classic list of published posts.

Yes! Sorry about that. It’s now working :)

Hi Amy!
Not at all!
To be honest, I am not sure what the purpose is of the pingbacks. And what is the Daily Post? Sorry for my ignorance…
Pingback is just getting an alert in your Comments (of your Dashboard) when someone links to one of your posts where pingbacks are enabled.
Daily Post is a weekly challenge given out to the WordPress.com Community. They use pingbacks. Take a look here:
-
I use pingbacks on almost every single blog post at the end of the post I list previous posts that are related to the one just published. If you go to any of the previous posts in the comment section there should be a link to the new/latest post that is related. This is very helpful if your blog posts on many different issues.
-
Thanks to you both for the explanations. I have been letting the pingbacks happen, but wasn’t sure what they did. Not sure it’s worth it to me to go back and edit to get the pingbacks on the ones I missed, but at least now I know what they are for!

I am still having issues with Pingbacks. I wasn’t able to ping back my post
https://booksmusicandmovies.wordpress.com/2014/12/19/wpc-yellow/ to the Daily post page. And as others have mentioned, to any other posts of mine or other blogs too. The issue still exists. I have tried with http and https in the link. Still a no go. -
@booksmusicandmovies-
Hi there,
I’m so sorry about that! Can you please try publishing a test post for that same daily post? I’m unable to reproduce your issue and I’m a bit confused as to why your post is not creating a ping back. I’m not seeing any blocks or flags on your account.
Thank you and I apologize for the inconvenience.

I created a test post from my other blog with ping backs to daily post as well a ping back to my own post of the aforementioned post.
Test post – please ignore http://wp.me/p3N45D-Kf via – it’s password protected. Use “testpost” (without quotes) as password. -

Sorry for getting your name incorrect. Didn’t realise the mistake.
Here is another post I created as public.
http://theoccassionaltraveller.wordpress.com/2014/12/20/test-post-2-pls-ignore/I can delete the other one if you are done with the testing/debugging.
Thanks. -

Tried to update my other bog post, but still no effect. Will updating the publish date have any effect?
-
OK. I published another post on my previous blog
https://booksmusicandmovies.wordpress.com/2014/12/20/yellow/
and this one got listed in the DailyPost page.
Now I truly don’t know what changed, but this one at least worked. I have a post scheduled this evening which pingbacks to another person’s blog post. Will update if I have issues there. -
Hi there,
I’m so glad it got posted. It may have been just a glitch at that time. If it happens again, please let me know and I’ll take a further look! I haven’t been able to reproduce a pingback error since, so fingers crossed!
-
I would like to emphasize that when publishing or updating your post, it must be in classic mode. Otherwise, pingbacks will not work.
And I think the link should be on it’s own with no punctuation before or after.
