‘Not Acceptable’ error
Hello, I am getting an error when I try to add a Page or a Portfolio: ‘Not Acceptable!
An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.’
I’ve contacted my host server (HostMonster/BlueHost) but they say that WordPress.com needs to whitelist https://wordpress.com/types/jetpack-portfolio/mysite.com wordpress.com.
Does this make sense? Can you help?
I’m afraid I don’t understand your host’s instructions. Based on what you’re saying they want us to whitelist something that’s hosted on our own domain, and that doesn’t make any sense, as we’re not blocking anything on our own servers.
As this involves the Jetpack plugin, please contact their support directly instead, and provide a link to your site so they can take a look. This is probably a problem with the Jetpack connection.
I was afraid you’d say that. What is the Jetpack plugin? Is it only used in some templates? I presume this is a third-party plugin, right?
I just checked the site again. It seems to be working now… I am new to WordPress. I hope these problems aren’t common.
Glad to hear it’s working now :)
The Jetpack plugin is what connects your site to WordPress.com and allows you to manage the site through your WordPress.com account. It’s also what adds the Portfolio content type to your site, as that’s not something WordPress includes by default.
You can find out more about that plugin and all the features it includes at https://jetpack.com/support
