No longer getting email notifications of comments left on my posts/

Since yesterday, I’ve stopped getting email notifications telling me that comments have been left on my posts. Is there a problem with them being sent by WordPress?

Hi, I did a search and the notifications I am getting are from other sites when they are responding to my comments.
So, I’m still not receiving any email notifications from WordPress when somebody comments on one of my posts.
I’m getting all other WordPress notifications.

Very strange. I’ve just tried turning your “comments on my site” notification off and on again to see whether that makes a difference, and I’ve sent in a comment of my own. Can you let us know if you get that email notification? It’ll be a bit before I’d be able to tell on this side.

Hi, I didn’t get an email notification of your comment, but it appears in the notification centre of my blog.

Hey there,
I can confirm the email notification wasn’t sent for @supernovia’s test comment there, but the comment does sit unapproved – if you were to approve this, can you confirm if the email is then sent please?
It would be possible to delete the comment soon after.

Hi @hughsviewsandnews, thanks for confirming. I wasn’t able to duplicate this on my own site yet, but I’ve shared this with the team that’s working on comments-related items. We’ll do some digging and let you know what we find. Are other notifications (like the “bell” icon) working in the meantime?

Hi @supernovia, all other notifications work, so I can respond to comments on my blog’s dashboard or via the bell icon.

Yes, I’m still getting email notifications of comments from other blogs, but I’m still not receiving any email notifications of comments being left on my posts. However, I did receive an email notification of a response I left to a comment on one of my posts over the weekend. I’m attaching a screenshot of it and hope it can be of some help to solve the mystery.
Just a thought – do you think this problem has anything to do with the new comments box that has appeared on many blogs? I noticed it’s gradually appearing on lots of blogs. Here’s a screenshot of what I’m referring to.

Interesting. This is what I see on my own site now after the change to the commenting box:
However, in My Account>Notifications there seems to be a conflict as I have checked the box to email me comments on my site.

Exactly, although the ’email me new comments’ button in the new comments box is for comments from the site you’re leaving comments on. Unfortunately, if you switch it on, you start getting email notifications of all the comments being left on all posts on that blog (not just the post you’ve left a comment on).

Curious point @justjennifer – I wonder if that setting somehow overrode @hughsviewsandnews’s preference to always get new comment notifications for his own site.
Do you want to try checking that option while commenting on your site, @hughsviewsandnews?

@supernovia – I had a go by responding to one of the comments on a recent post, and I slid the ’email me new comments’ button to the on position, but I’m still not getting email notifications of new comments being left on any of my blog posts.

Also, while I have pinged the developers again, I did go ahead and uncheck / save / recheck comment notifications just to see whether that’ll help at all. If those email notifications do start suddenly showing up, let us know!
