No author name on home page?
-
On my main site, theredsquirrelnews.wordpress.com , my author name and picture appear next to the date and “leave a comment” link on every post excerpt on the home page.
However, on my gaming site (theredsquirrelgaming.wordpress.com), it doesn’t appear – just the date and “leave a comment” on each one.
What should I do?
Both sites use the theme Canard and the settings all seem the same?
Thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Those settings seem to be on the Theme Customizer under Content Options.
However I tested it on my site and even though Display Author is checked it doesn’t change it.
Let me search a bit more and see what I can find. -
Oh I found the answer on this old thread > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/canard-theme-how-to-get-authors-name-on-the-post-in-home?replies=4
Apparently you need more than one Author on Your blog for that option to appear! The thread tells you options on how to add another author.
I hope this helps!

Thank you so much! That clears it up :)
On another note, do you have any idea why on my main site (on desktop), sometimes the author name appears under the excerpt and sometimes under the picture?
Could it be just this monitor?
Thank you! -
Hello @theredsquirrelnews,
I see what you mean. I think If the excerpt is a little too long it sends the rest of the text below the image.I think it’s flexible so that when you see it on smaller devices it wraps properly.
https://cloudup.com/cttof_xI1LQYou could force the “Continue Reading” by using the “Read More” tag in the editor.
https://cloudup.com/iq7eKWaLQIdHopefully that could help tweak the posts that are bleeding out that way.
I’m still wondering if the Theme itself limits the word count for the excerpt or if its using the site’s settings. I’ll look into it! :)
