New to wordpress, need few help

    Hi everyone.

    Lets get straight to my questions.

    1. How do I see “stats”?Such as traffic info, number of visits, etc.?

    2. What is the difference between widgets and plugins?

    3. Is it possible to have/make a good, decent blog using the free version of WP? It is only going to be my personal stuff, and some hobbies, my life, etc.

    4. I plan to learn from here http://learn.wordpress.com/ , is that still up to date?

    5. Lastly, I see a lot of “self-hosted” version of WP. What does this mean?

    Hi Dynwar7,
    To view your stats hover your mouse over your name at the top right of the page in the gray bar. Then hover over the name of your blog, and then over “site stats”

    The self hosted version of WP (WordPress.org) is where you pay for space on a server instead of getting free like on WordPress.com. Since you would be self hosted you have the freedom to use certain things such as Flash and other code that is prohibited on the free version of WordPress.

    Yes you can make a decent site with the free version of WP. My site uses the free version of WP. I get plenty of visitors and responses. I think the thing to remember is that the most important aspect of any website is its content. Concentrate on that first and foremost. As you get more experienced you can always tweak the appearance of the site.
