New Format doesn't like tags — OLD FORMAT IS BETTER

  • Up until today, I have been able to go through Reader, click “Share This” and select WP, and then it pops up in a new window that allows me to copy and paste ALL of my tags in one block with commas separating each tag.

This new format does NOT allow for that. Putting the block in the tag, the new post format sees that as ONE single tag.

This is a terrible update. I’d like to be able to do things the way I always do them. I don’t like having to re-learn a process every six months or however often things get changed just for the sake of change.

If we’re going to be stuck with this new set of unnecessary bells and whistles, at least allow the Tag generator to recognize a flippin’ list.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You are reporting a known issue re: tagging in the new editor

We have two user interfaces now and two editors. I use only the classic editor, and not the new so-called “improved” editor.

The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL

You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and for viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

On the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

    *http://REPLACE_WITH_ ACTUAL _NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

To create posts in the classic editor for you that link is:

    http://scifi4me.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

On the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts one can hover over any post title and click the Edit link. and proceed with editing.

    *http://REPLACE_WITH_ ACTUAL _NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

To edit posts in the classic editor go to

    http://scifi4me.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

Hope this helps and best wishes with your blog.

  • This doesn’t actually address the new issue I’m having with the Sharing tool in Reader.

Up until a couple of days ago, it gave “WordPress” as an option. Now it reads a list of my connected WP sites, and automatically dumps into the new editor for posting. I don’t want to do it this way, and there’s no tool ready-to-hand to switch to the “classic” editor.

I wish people would leave well enough alone. When something works, don’t try to make it better just because you can. You usually end up breaking something else, as WordPress has done here.

  • Yes that’s a known issue and you can provide your feedback here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/editor-feedback?replies=786 if you wish to do so.
