Need log in info (Site Hacked)
-
My site was hacked by aggressive, former co-workers who have been cyber bullying me on other social media for months; they somehow found a way into my site, accessed a file in drafts, and left a vitriol message behind. As I’ve been in the United States for the past three months for health reasons, I need the log in information showing that the site was accessed from Japan (our former mutual workplace) in order to finally put in a complaint against him. I really need to put a stop to this soon as I will be back in Japan to settle my affairs with our agency in about two to three weeks. I’ve since changed passwords on all of my accounts across all platforms, including WP, but there is a chance that they may find their way back on again. I would really, really appreciate help! Thank you!

Hi there,
I don’t see any evidence in the logs of suspicious activity in your account. Aside from a password reset yesterday, the last activity we logged was 3 months ago when you deleted some posts. We do not log the IP of every single edit made to a post or draft post.
If you haven’t deleted the draft post and can give me a link to the specific draft I can check if there’s anything in that post’s revision history that can help you, but I can’t make any promises about that.
The only way someone can gain access to your site is if you add them as a user to your site, or if they gain access to your WordPress.com password, or your email account which would allow them to reset the password. No password resets have been made over the past 3 months, so if someone accessed your account they did so using your existing password, or a device with a browser where you were already logged in to your account or where you had your password saved in the browser.
Always make sure to log out of any accounts when using a shared computers, and never allow your browser to save passwords for you, even on your personal devices. Browsers don’t encrypt saved passwords, so anyone who knows how can get your saved passwords out of a browser.

Kokkieh, thank you so much for responding! If it helps my hacker admitted in his long rant that he accessed my account from a shared work computer that was still logged on. Is there any chance you can get the information off the post in question if it was never published. What he did was access my account through the work computer where it wasn’t logged off and left the message in a draft post. It came to my attention when that draft post suddenly appeared at the top when the last time I had touched it was in October or November of 2015.
I want to add that I’ve never added them, never gave them permission of any kind to access my website. Also thank you for the tips on keeping myself safe online. It’s little things like that, that I forget about.
what information would you need from the post?

In that case your best evidence is their admission of guilt in the post itself. As they used a computer that was already logged in as your account there is no way to prove unauthorised access to your account.

Just thinking aloud here that a “log out from all other sessions” link/option, like some webmail clients have, would be very useful in such a case.

@justjennifer
That is a very good suggestion. I’ll check if we already have anything like that in the works, and if not I’ll log a request for it. -
Thanks to everyone who helped and made suggestions. This is a great community and I will definitely be keeping my account. I’m also going to start being more aware of computer settings.
