NEED HELP! DNS is pointed back to Old WordPress.com site

  • Please help! I need to speak to a human. My website at http://www.refashionista.net

is not working because it is getting the following message:

You can’t get there from here (site_id mismatch error). This happens when an external blog (a self-hosted blog using the Stats plugin) is pointed to WordPress.com by DNS. If you are trying to migrate away from WordPress.com, please update your DNS to point the domain to your own server. Otherwise please contact WordPress.com support and explain what you were trying to do, what steps you took, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. It’s probably Andy’s fault.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • @toojilly, you cancelled your domain, which can cause all kinds of strange issues. If you intend to never use it again we can go ahead and let the cancellation to go through. If you want it to work here or with any host we need to contact the registrar to get it back right away before it goes into redemption status. Please confirm you’d like us to un-cancel.

  • Hi! I didn’t mean to cancel it.

    What can I do?

  • I need refashionista.net to direct to my dreamhost server.

  • I’ll reach out to the registrar for you to see if we can get it back. Please allow a business day or two; if it’s not too late they’ll restore it, and we’ll get in touch and help you point the domain.

If it is in redemption, you should still be able to get it back, but it will cost extra. I’ll let you know what we find.

  • I was able to get your domain back for you & have confirmed it’s pointed to Dreamhost.

To restore it, we had to renew it for a year, so we will need to have you pay for that. I’ll send that your way via email. Then you can transfer with these steps:

Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar
