Nameservers – Stuck in a loophole
-
Registered my domain with WordPress.com last year. Moved to a2hosting.com. My registrar is still Automattic. Inc according to whois. Going on my wordpress.com account and there are no domains in the https://wordpress.com/domains/manage section so I can’t update my nameservers. Unable to use WordPress.com email/live chat because when I put in my website, it says – [WEBSITE] is linked to another WordPress.com account. If you’re trying to access it, please follow our Account Recovery procedure. Learn More.
So I click learn more, do account recovery, and when submitting account recovery a message pops up saying you can reset your password with the email address you have provided. So I reset password, login with new password, and I am brought back to the same wordpress.com account that has no domains in it!
I would like to simply update my nameservers so that they are with cloudfare. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Howdy –
That’s no problem. I’ll be glad to help you sort this out. To start, can you tell me which domain you’re trying to edit the name servers on?
I believe that it is set up under a different account which is why you are not seeing it in the dashboard now.

I have a creator plan that is still in date, not expired, so I should be able to contact live chat no? But it will not let me and I can only contact wordpress.com on here

Hi there,
You are correct that we provide support for things directly related to your site hosted here as long as you have an active plan. I took a look at your site and it looks like the reason you weren’t able to access chat is because the Jetpack connection on your site was broken. I fixed this and made sure that chat is again accessible for you.
Regarding your domain’s Name Servers, you can update these any time you would like by signing into the dashboard at WordPress.com. You can also use this link: https://wordpress.com/domains/manage.
There you can select the domain and click the...menu to access the DNS settings. This guide also walks you through the steps: Change a Domain’s Name Servers
Taking a look at your domain’s current settings (which you can also check here: https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/) you are already pointing to external Name Servers. If these are not the values you want, and you share the correct values, we are happy to help you get them updated.
