my website doesn't show on the internet

    Hi folks. I’m new to WordPress, so forgive me if this type of question has been posted previously.

    I have built a website on wordpress.com for my friend. She previously created her domain outside of wordpress, however last night she paid wordpress to have her domain mapped to wordpress.

    However, when I navigate to her website in google, I get a message saying the site is under construction. I expected it to appear there, given that it is now registered with wordpress, and I also set the page on her wordpress site to publish immediately.

    I am new to wordpress, so perhaps I have missed doing something to make this work???

    Can someone please tell me what I need to do to make my friend’s website visible on the internet?

    Hello,
    It looks like the tech part (nameservers, domain mapping) is working properly. When you say you built the site on WordPress, did you put all the content on switchbackmerino.wordpress.com? If not, you’ll need to add all of that.

    If you did put the content there already, you may have set up a static homepage as a “coming soon” page and need to update that.

    Thanks very much for your time and help micawbr. The site now displays on the internet! I changed the name servers on netfirms to point at the name servers on wordpress and it now works. It did not work right away, so I think it takes some time before a change to a name server starts to work.
