  Is there a limit to the number of blogs I can have on one account? Are there any extra costs for multiple blogs on one account?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  There isn’t a limit, and there is no extra cost, provided you don’t want to buy upgrades for them.

  If you have two blogs, is there any way they are connected? I would prefer one to remain very separate from the other due to content. Nothing derogatory, etc., but one blog is very “wholesome” and the other is not. More “R” rated… (not photos).

  Yes, they are connected by username. if you want them to be separate make separate accounts.
