Moving Jetpacked WP.org installation to another site

I have a self-hosted blog, accessible from the Internet using DynDNS since I have a dynamic IP.

I want to move it to my external web host. Thus, I turned off Jetpack, transfer all files to the new server, and changed the settings (wp-config.php and updated URLs in WP database) to match the destination URL.

But, when I turned Jetpack back on, all of my stats are gone! I didn’t have this problem when I was using WP.com stats plugin. I want all of my old stats to be transferred to the new site.

Is that possible? Does WP.com saves the stats by URL and not by a local identifier?

FYI, actually I want to move another blog, but as it has already have a lot of visits, I decided to test it using a new blog. Looking at the result now, I decided to wait until I get a reply from WP support team.

The Jetpack stats are linked to the site’s URL.

Did you change the URL or domain as part of the move?

Of course. I didn’t have and didn’t think about buying a domain name at that time.

Is there anything I can do to move it? For example, downloading stats data, delete jetpack plugin, import to wp stats plugin, and let it sync with the new domain name?

Currently I am using DynDNS.org free service as it is free, but I recently
Bought a cheap domain name, only the half of DynDNS Pro service. Thus I prefer moving it to my new domain name.

In this case, nothing can be done. The data is now linked by site URL and cannot be transferred.

What? I started using jetpack thinking that It would be more flexible to move anywhere as WP.org stats plugin did. This is really important, and I really wish that this limitation be written in Jetpack FAQ page. It would be better if the URL is movable in the future, and I’m looking forward to it.

By the way, is it okay if I CNAME my old url to the new domain?

Thanks very much for your feedback and I’m sorry that we’re not able to move the stats for you right now.

As for creating a CNAME record for your old URL, that shouldn’t be a problem in relation to Jetpack.
