Moving free wp.com blog to new domain on self hosted wp.org blog?

    Hi,

    I want to move my free wordpress.com blog to a new domain with a self hosted wordpress.org blog on my go daddy hosting account. What is the best way do this. I am a little confused between the guided transfer method and site redirect options. Do I use one of these methods? Need to use both? Not losing any (or much) google search traffic is important. Any info on this matter would be gretly appreciated.

    With guided transfer, staff will do it all for you as long as you are using one of their hosting partners.

    The site redirect simply redirects all traffic from your site here to the new site. It does not transfer any content or anything. The site redirect is a separate upgrade and is not included in the guided transfer.

    This should get you started if you are going to do the setup and transfer yourself.
