  i saw tutorials on youtube and i think i have the wrong version of wordpress. it doesnt look the same and some arent there.

  I wonder if the tutorials you saw on YouTube were aimed at viewers with WordPress.org installations? WordPress.org and WordPress.com are different, you can read more about their differences here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
