Map a domain (x.y.com) not registered with wp to a blog (x.wordpress.com)
-
Hi WP community,
I have a blog with a free plan and I’m trying, accorded to https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-subdomain/ , to map a subdomain that I own to this blog and pay $13/year.
Following the instructions:
1) Once the CNAME record has been added and verified, go to Domains.
2) Select your site (example.wordpress.com) and click Add Domain.
3) Look for “Already own a domain?” Map it. Enter your subdomain.yourgroovydomain.com and add it. You will be prompted to pay for the upgrade and complete the mapping process.I reach a checkout page where I have to pay not only the $13 for mapping my subdomain, but the entire premium plan. ($99/y)
Is this normal? Reading the article it doesn’t seems to me that I need to have a premium plan to enable this feature for $13/y.
Any comment will be appreciated.
Cheers,

Just to make certain, because you marked your other thread as resolved, do you still need help with this?
In general, domain mapping is not a standalone upgrade and is included in any of the upgrade plans including Personal. More about the various plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

the other thread had the title cutted, so I marked it as resolved.
So, I’ve have at least to upgrade to a personal plan (~$36/y), correct?
In this case, I’ll be able to use the “free domain credit” mentioned in https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-subdomain/#how-do-you-pay-for-this-upgrade ?Thanks for the quick reply

Yes, you can map a domain or subdomain with the domain credit in the Personal plan.
If you run into any problem in doing so, please return to this forum thread (I’ve closed the other one) and add the MODLOOK tag to the Tags section in the forum thread sidebar to receive Staff assistance.

Thanks. With the Personal plan seems to be working.
