    Hi,

    I have a blog I want to deactivate, https://lucianapopphotography.wordpress.com

    Have’t used it in a while, forgot my password, when I ask for a reset I get no e-mail.

    I really want to delete a post there, what can I do?

    Thanks.

    Hello Luciana!

    I added a tag to this support request so that an Automattic employee can help you on your situation.

    @mihaiapetrei

    Please read this support doc WordPress.com Volunteers https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-com-volunteers/

    Please do not get into the habit of simply tagging threads for Staff. Learn how to use forum search, tag search and google search and do not post into any thread unless you are convinced that you have a correct response that you can back up with links to correct and complete Staff or experienced Volunteer responses in similar recent support threads, please.

    @lucianazaga

    Will you please confirm that the email address here https://wordpress.com/me/account for the exact same username account that registered https://lucianapopphotography.wordpress.com/ is correct.

    If you cannot locate the email verification check your email client spam filter, and if you use gmail or google apps please consult these guides:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/gmail-issues/

    If you are not successful you can type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

    Additional information:

    You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

    http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.

    I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.

    You can update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me

    If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.

    If you did not register the site under your username account and do not have the required access, then you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it, and have them act or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

    If the login information has been lost go to
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-password

    If required use the account recovery form
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

    re: deleting sites

    All sites are independent. What you do on one or to one has no impact on any other site. To delete a WordPress.COM hosted site you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Delete Site. The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ note the alternatives provided there.

    Prior to deletion warnings are issued. Deleted wordpress.COM blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and the only exceptions are made are for URLs that were deleted 2 or more years ago. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

    https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com

    *Replace “NAME_OF_BLOG” with the actual name of the blog in the URL above.

    If you are not logged in under the correct WordPress.COM username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account

    @timethief

    Yes, I think it is the same address the account was registered to. It is (email visible only to moderators and staff).

    When I try to login, it does not say “invalid e-mail address”, it says the password I entered for (email visible only to moderators and staff) is incorrect. Also, this is the e-mail address I have as a contact in the About section of the blog. It can be verified by sending an e-mail.

    I have checked the spam folder, nothing comes in.

    Our software will redact all email addresses to protect your privacy as this is a public support forum. However, Staff can read redacted email addresses so do not post it again as this thread is already tagged with modlook for a Staff follow-up.

    Hi @lucianazaga,

    What I can do is e-mail the address associated with the account so that you can check the email you referenced. All you would need to do is respond from that e-mail to verify ownership. Then, I will definitely be able to assist you in regaining access.

    Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

    Hmm..I just checked the email I sent and I did not receive a response. Tell me what address did you receive the email from? I will be the only one that is able to see the email.

    Thanks,

    Hi there,

    I received a message that you’re having trouble getting into your WordPress.com account. I can help you with this, but first I need you to reply to this email and include my message in your reply. That will allow me to verify that you own the email address on the account. Once that’s done, I can assist you in regaining access into your account.

    Thanks,
