    Hello there,
some time ago, my organization hired an external consultant to set up a wordpress blog (http://ceresecuador.wordpress.com/) for us. Since then, there was many changes in personnel within the organization, and now nobody knows the password nor the administrator email which was used to set up the blog. We couldn’t get hold of the consultant to get an answer. Now I am trying to dump the blog, but I can’t access it nor recover the password because I don’t know which email was used for admin purposes. I am the director of the organization and I can prove that we are the owner of the blog (ex. logo, content, etc.). Any idea on how I can access the admin features in order to delete the blog ??
    Many thanks,

    Fabrice

    Hi Fabrice,

For security reasons, we are unable to give out account information to email addresses other than the one listed on the account. We require an email from the address used to register the account to prove ownership of the account and cannot accept any other forms of identification.

Unfortunately if you don’t have access to the email address then we won’t be able to give you access to the site. I apologize for the inconvenience.

    Hi mkoenig514,

thank you for your reply. I understand that the standard procedure does not apply to this case as you could read in my post (and actually this is the reason why I am contacting happiness engineers). The situation is now that we have this blog in the name of my organization which we want to get rid of and we don’t know how to do it. As I said in my post, I can prove that I am the director of this organization (CERES Ecuador) by providing supporting documents and also institutional email addresses we are using (e.j. (email visible only to moderators and staff), (email visible only to moderators and staff), (email visible only to moderators and staff)). This consultant who set up and ran the blog for us some time ago left the country and didn’t give us any follow up address. There is no way we can get in touch with her. If only I could know which email address she used to register the blog, I would be able to write to this address and try to get them to reset the password. She actually also step up our twitter account and we had the same problem but the twitter tech support was able to help us after I provided all kind of supporting documents that We are indeed the owners of the account. I hope WordPress is able to do the same. Thanks.

    Hi Fabrice,

I’ve just marked the site as “Private” so that only the site owner would be able to see it (and change it). I hope this helps!

    Hi Evarlese,

thanks for your reply, this is already very helpful! I just checked the site thought and it is still accesible (at least I can access it on my computer). Does it take a few hours to be set on “private” ? Also, once it is on private, is there any further way to delete it or should we just leave it live its life on its own until.. ??!

    Thanks
    Fabrice

I apologize for not noticing this before, but it looks like you’re the administrator of the account. Are you able to see the blog in your list of blogs when you log into your WordPress account? If so, you can modify, or delete, the site that way.

    Hi Evarlese,

are you referring to “fabicusco.wordpress.org” ? I created this blog and username only to be able to post on this forum. But I don’t see the “ceresecuador.wordpress.org” blog in my list of blogs while logged in as fabicusco. I am interested in deleting that one (ceresecuador.wordpress.org) but since I don’t know either the password nor the admin email, I can’t post from that username. does that make sense ? Thanks for your help

For security purposes, we are unable to provide any information on the blog without being contacted by the username which owns the blog or the email address on the blog’s account.

Damn, it looks like Hapiness Engineers don’t read the previous posts ! Thanks for trying to help macmanx, but it is actually not helping. I’ve explained the case to 3 different happiness engineers already, and the most suitable answer I’ve received so far was by Evarlese. I think it does make sense to put the site http://www.ceresecuador.wordpress.org as “private” so that it is not accessible to the general public. That’s enough for me. And if you are concerned about the fact that the site may not be mine, then the “real” administrator would just need to put it back to “public” and that’s it. This blog belongs to my organization but we don’t know the password nor the email address which was used as admin. Thanks.
