Little or No WordPress Reader Traffic.

  • Hi,

I wonder if someone could ‘health check’ my blog for any blocks that may been inadvertently imposed on my posts, because my stats/hits from WordPress Reader are pretty awful. There have been only 40 visitors from all sources for the year. I have read the support article about the maximum permitted number of tags/categories. Some of my posts were over the 15 Tag/Cat combined total limit, but not all.

    Many thanks.

  • Hi there,

Your site is not being blocked in any way and your posts are showing up in tag searches as they should:

The majority of Reader traffic comes from followers/subscribers, and your site has only 5 followers. That, combined with how irregularly you post, explains the low overall views on your site.

It also looks like your site doesn’t get a lot of hits from search engines. That would also be related to how often you post – sites that don’t have a lot of content and that don’t publish new content regularly do not come up in search results as often as sites that do.

I suggest you take a look at our tips for increasing your site’s traffic at the link below, and just be patient. Building a following takes time, and the best thing you can do to help that along is to keep publishing new original content so there’s something for search engines and the Reader search to find.

    Getting More Views and Traffic

  • Thanks for checking things out and suggesting probable causes.
