Links not clickable in blog post (Harmonic Theme)
Please double check the link using the HTML Text editor.
For embedding links in post and pages this is the general link model:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>
This is the visual result – it’s not actually linked here in the forum.
Highlighted anchor text here
1. In the Visual editor type the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that “click here” is not a good choice. ;)
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.

Thank you very much, but in the past 15 years since I have been using html links on my various sites, this has never happened.
Can you click on those links? Maybe it’s just something on my end here.
This is how the html looks like, with the proper link of course: Live and Travel Your Life
And I have no way to do anything with the Leave a comment and Edit parts, that should be automatic.
Probably I will need a Staff help, thank you for the tip.
Oh, I couldn’t paste the html here… Anyway, it does look like the link model that you put here, there is just a target blank, in the same place as it is in the 5 other links on the bottom of the post, which work great.
Everywhere else on the site the links work fine, but in this post.
Alrighty, now I just created another site with the Harmonic Theme and have the same problem: links are clickable or not, randomly, although all the html are good. https://andreagerakphotography.wordpress.com/store/
I checked your post at https://andreagerakmusic.wordpress.com/2015/08/19/welcome/ and all of the links work for me. You mentioned that if you hover over the text “Live and Travel Your Life ” nothing happens — what happens if you click on that text?
I also checked your page https://andreagerakphotography.wordpress.com/store/ and all of the links in the text and the linked images under “Photo Products” work for me. (The images under “Photo Licensing” aren’t linked.) Which of those links aren’t working for you?
Hi Rachel, thank you.
On https://andreagerakmusic.wordpress.com/2015/08/19/welcome/ I cannot even click on Live and Travel Your Life: the cursor remains the ordinary arrow and doesn’t change into the little hand and there is no way to click on it. Same with “Leave a comment” in the Sidebar and when I am logged in, “Edit”.
At the bottom, all the other links work alright: HOME BIO BOOKING GALLERY STORE.
And there is no any difference in the html coding for the non-working link vs. the working ones.
On https://andreagerakphotography.wordpress.com/store/ the 3 text links don’t work, it is the same case, but the picture links do.
I indeed forgot to link the last 2 images though, but now I corrected them, thank you for pointing it out.
However, the text links still are a mystery. When editing, in Text mode all the html bits look fine, as well as in the Visual mode: there when I hover over the text links, the color will change and the linked text will be underlined. On both blogs.
I don’t think that it is something to do with my linking skills: in my other 2 WordPress blogs and 1 on WordPress.org several Blogger places, I am linking back and forth through the sites and also have lots of external links and never had this problem.
All of the links work for me, so the problem isn’t with your site or the links themselves. It’s possible that the issue is specific to your computer or browser. Do you have another browser you can check with, so we can narrow down exactly where the issue is coming from?
If you need, you can download the latest versions of popular browsers here to try one out: http://browsehappy.com/
It’s great news Rachel that the links work for you – it’s my visitors who are supposed to see them and not me :-D
Yes I checked them now in 2 other browsers (normally I am using Chrome and now I viewed them in Firefox and Opera as well) – nope, the very same thing…
Same on 2 other computers with the same setup that I am using right now.
So is it possible that it is something to do with the Harmonic Theme on Linux?
I will ask a few friends with various devices to check it, too.
I checked your site on Linux, and I see what you mean about those links not being clickable. It isn’t a problem in other operating systems, but on Linux the theme’s layout is causing problems for links near the top of your posts. I reported that issue to our theme developers so they can investigate that. Thanks for reporting this and for sticking with me while we found the source of the problem. :)
I’ll let you know when I get an update from our team about this issue!
A bit more of information:
I use Linux / Firefox 39.0 and all links are clickable on every link posted. This problem doesn’t happened here…
Thanks for those details, pedger. We’ll do some testing to figure out exactly which setups are having trouble and see if we can track that down and fix it where it’s needed.
Our team launched a fix for this issue, and when I look at your site on Linux now all the links are working for me. Please let me know if you have any more trouble with those links on your end. :)
Yayyyy, terrific!!!!!! Good now! All the links work great.
The only thing is that clicking “Leave a comment” will just take me back to the top of the page and not down to the comment box.
Thank you very much!!!!!
And thanks pedger for your input, I appreciate it.
Excellent! I’m so glad those links are working for you. :) I’ll check with our team about that “Leave a comment” link, too — thanks for mentioning that!
You’re welcome! Im glad to be helpful.
We’ve tracked down the issue with the ‘Leave a comment’ link in Harmonic, and it has been fixed.
Thank you for reporting this issue! If you have any questions, or run into any other problems, just let us know!
