Link on twitter – diffrent design

  • Hello!

If I share one of my articles from my website on twitter, then the design looks different when I press that link from the design I actually have on my website. Why is that?

  • Hi there,

That’s because Twitter automatically uses the AMP version of your site if that’s enabled (AMP is enabled by default on all WordPress.com sites).

AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages, and is a copy of your page that has been stripped down of all unnecessary info and optimized to load as quickly as possible over mobile phone networks. That is also the version of your site that Google will show to anyone who finds it via an online search on their phone.

If you want to disable AMP on your site you can do that, but note that any existing AMP links for your site that have already been shared on Twitter will no longer work when you do that. Disabling AMP will also negatively impact your site’s appearance in Google searches, specifically on mobile devices.
