Link Image Text to Page
-
I cannot find in the forums a way to link the title of my image in the text widget to a page or a post of mine. Or is there a way to place an image under my category of Who We Are? I am trying to have the image of Who We Are with the ability to click on the “Who We Are” to take a client to the page to read Who We Are. My blog site is festivalstrings. If you go to the blog you will see a photo of who we are and the title above it I would like others to be able to click on it and take them to a page with a description of us. Thanks a bunch.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t want to list the “Who We Are” in the sidebar as a page to click on because I want the information to be accessible through clicking on the title “Who We Are” that sits on top of the image in the side bar now. This is really what I am aiming for. Thanks.

It’s easy to link an image to a page. Linking a widget title to a page is not possible.
If you’re used to composing in HTML, then just put the image in and wrap it with a link to whichever page you want. If you’re used to the Visual editor, then the best way to compose text widgets is to use the Write Post box and do it all there, then click to the HTML editor and copy all the code. Paste that in your text widget.
To link an image to a page, insert the image, then click on it to get the little mountain icon, click on that to edit the image, and where it says Link, insert the link to the page.

If you could please go to my site: festivalstrings
and look at the photo at the top left on the sidebar. Underneath the photo I have a title, “Who We Are” and when I click on it, it doesn’t go to the Who We Are category where I posted it in a post. I know there is a way to post in a category and link a title attached to an image on a sidebar. I did it a long time ago, and I have been trying to figure it out how I did it before and this is where I have gotten stumped. How do I link the “Who We Are to my post under the category Who We Are in my post section? Thank you. -
There is no image in the top of your sidebar. I get this image ink http://festivalstrings.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/img_2031-e1297537753122.jpg and I also get this. > 404 — File not found. It appears that you deleted the image.
I am going to post an example using my own blog URLs below. The image in the sidebar of my blog is linked to my About page. By examining the code you will be able to see what you have to do in order to accomplish the same thing ie. linking an image to the Who We Are page on your blog.
<a href="http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/about/"><img src="http://onecoolsite.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/computerconnect.png?w=150" alt="computer connect" title="computerconnect" width="150" height="104" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-11255" /></a> -
First off, the image is 404 file not found. Did you delete the image from your media library? Or, is the image URL incorrect. Secondly the URL for the category is incorrect and the code is not entirely correct. Delete the code you have and then put this into the text widget and it should fix it for you.
<p><a title="Festival Strings Players.jpg" href="http://festivalstrings.wordpress.com/category/who-we-are/"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-61" title="Festival Strings Musicians IMG_2031" src="http://festivalstrings.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/img_2031.jpg?w=150&h=112" alt="" width="150" height="112" /></a></p> <p><a href="http://festivalstrings.wordpress.com/category/who-we-are-who-we-are"><font size="2">Who We Are</font></a></p> -
I just went to festivalstrings.wordpress.com and I can see the image on the sidebar top left.
-
And you might even like this better where the image and the text is center aligned.
<p style="text-align:center;"><a title="Festival Strings Players.jpg" href="http://festivalstrings.wordpress.com/category/who-we-are/"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-61" title="Festival Strings Musicians IMG_2031" src="http://festivalstrings.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/img_2031.jpg?w=150&h=112" alt="" width="150" height="112" /></a></p> <p style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://festivalstrings.wordpress.com/category/who-we-are-who-we-are"><font size="2">Who We Are</font></a></p> -
Bah. you need to correct the URL in the text link above. This is what you have
http://festivalstrings.wordpress.com/category/who-we-are-who-we-areand this is what you should have
http://festivalstrings.wordpress.com/category/who-we-are -
I’m not seeing the image. It is not appearing for me in two different browsers. In the code above I pulled the image URL from the “who we are” category post.
It could be that the image is not showing up since the syntax in the code you have in the text widget is incorrect. Not sure why it would show up for you and not for me.

I just fixed it, so what do you see? But I still click on Who We Are and it takes to a “Page Not Found” and I am trying to get it to go to a category called Who We Are in a post that I worked in through the dashboard.

I am using a Firefox 3.6.13 browser. I now see the image and it’s linked to http://festivalstrings.wordpress.com/category/who-we-are/
- You could have a browser issue so try changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies – instructions for specific browsers.
- Note that when you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.
Please try that ^ and if you do not experience success then post again and tell us which browser and version of it you are using.

As I said, the text link for the “who we are” text needs to be fixed as I’ve indicated above.

It is good now. Thanks so much for everyone’s help. Sacred Path… I got some similar help from you a couple of years ago with the html. Your suggestions this time with the html look a little different. I was working off some old html knowledge, so I appreciate the help in that arena. I would like to be able to use more of html to manipulate more in the future, but if one loses what they don’t use. So is there a place on website to assist or another site? I knew some html from the past, but forgot a lot of it.

I did not clear the cookies, I restarted my computer and I can see the image and it links to the Who We Are in the categories–yipee!!!!!! Should I still clear the cookies? Thanks for the tutorial links!!!!!!
Blessings to ya’s. -
@festivalstrings, You are welcome.
One thing you can do is to create a draft post and then do all the formatting and such in that post using the tools in the visual editor. When you are happy with it, switch to the HTML tab in the editor, copy out everything in there and then past that into the text widget. If you have “paragraphs” of stuff, then make sure that the “keep paragraph breaks” box is checked at the bottom of the widget and then save.

@festivalstrings
Yay! You can see it!Should I still clear the cookies?
No. But in the furture if you cannot view your blog and others can view it then first troubleshooting action is to undertake is what I posted above. :)
