limit the amount of shown tags and categories

    hi,

    if I add 6 categories and 7 tags to a post, is it possible to have only for example
    show the first 3 of them below the post?

    Like: Tag1, Tag2, Tag3, Tag4, Tag5,

    but on the post it shows: Tag1, Tag2, Tag3, …

    same goes for categories ?

    any help would be apprecaited…

    Note that until you post the complete URL for the blog in question starting with http:// we cannot give you answers that are specifically addressed to issues with the blog.

    “No” you cannot change the number Categories and/or Tags are displayed on wordpress.COM blog themes under or over your posts. This is because we cannot edit the templates underlying our themes. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

    You are the one who is assigning categories and tags which are treated in exactly the same way by search engines to posts. The rule of thumb is the fewer and more relevant the categories and tags you assign – the better. Posting an excessive amount of categories and tags is not a good idea.     thanks a bunch…

    I am actually still coding, so my site is not up yet.. Still, it seems we’re on the same page as you replied exactly what i was wondering. I would even consider using the css upgrade, but can’t figure how this would work out.

    On the other hand, it’s not that i would use too much tags, just point that it would be “designwise” nicer if only some (maybe even random) tags or categories would be shown on initial post, or frontpage.

    I could use
    Category: Cinema, Blockbuster, hot lead, great soundtrack
    Tags: megan fox, robots, ac/dc, megatron, movie from comic

    and it would show (below or above the post):
    Category: Cinema, Great Soundtracks, …
    Tags: Robots, AC/DC, …

    thanks anyway, will try to digg in it some more…
