Libretto : make author name appear in each article

    Hello everyone.

First, I must admit I am a new user on wordpress and I don’t really know how to use it.
    I’m using wordpress online.

I would like to replace the date of publication of each article by the name of its author.

Would you know how to do it ?

    Thanks a lot.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Many themes don’t display the author byline unless there is more than one official user on the site. I don’t have a list of them. Check here / on the live demo site for the theme https://wordpress.com/themes/libretto/

The point of displaying an author name is to differentiate the posts on a multi-author site. Many themes don’t display the author byline unless there is more than one official user on the site. See here https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#author

Regardless of the theme, and provided the theme is designed to display an author, bylines will only display now if there are at least two authors, who both have at least one published post in the blog. There’s a single author workaround here.
    http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/wordpress-com-changes-bylines-for-authors/

Very few themes have an author profile with a gravatar that displays below every post. The data is derived from here > Dashboard > Users > My Profile > About You (section) and anything you add there appears on your Gravatar profile page as well.

If the author profile does not appear on the live demo site for your theme then it is not a feature provided by that theme.

It does look like the option under Customize > Content Options to Display author isn’t working, I’ve just tested it.

That could mean either that this theme isn’t meant to display the author name, or that we need to fix the option to make it functional – I’ve opened a report with the design team so we can sort it out!

We’ll post here when we know more!

    Thanks for reporting this, lavoixestlibreblog!

I did a little digging and can confirm what both timethief and chad1008 suggested: the Libretto theme will only display the post author when there is more than one published author on your site.

Once there is more than one author, the ‘Display Post Author’ toggle can be used to hide the names from the posts.

Most themes will hide the post author on the blog posts page if there’s one one contributor to the blog. However, most will also show the author on the single posts, regardless how many contributors there are. Libretto is a bit unusual, and will not display the post author in either location if there’s only one contributor.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any questions about the above, or if you run into further issues!
