Jetpack issues

  • Currently working on the staging version of my site hosted on WP-Engine. Jetpack appeared to be working fine until I needed to access the settings page to switch off the portfolio feature (I need the slug for something else). The settings page would load for a second and then go white.

Checked the Prod version of the site and the same problem was there too. So I deactivated in both locations and reactivated in the hopes that would fix it. In the staging version it refused to connect with WordPress.com because the site wasn’t publicly available (it’s Staging) and in Prod when trying to set up I got the error ‘This site can’t be connected to WordPress.com because it violates our Terms of Service’.

Not sure how I’ve managed to screw things up but can you help? Thanks. (Note: I’m an amateur who clearly knows just enough code and stuff to break things …)
