Is there an way to replace an image and keep the same link?

  • Well… here is the problem.

I’m wanting to replace an image, actually a banner of my blog to another one and I would like to keep the same link of the JPG file.

Thanks in advance for everybody reading this and see ya! ;-)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You would have to permanently delete the original header image from your Media Library first. Then you can upload another file that has the same name and file extension it had. That’s the only way the URLs will be the same.

Oh.. thanks and nice to meet you again “timethief”, you had replied me before in the past. :-)

But I’m not saying about the header image… I will give the link of the image, here it is

I will explain… I’m intending to change the current theme of my blog from “Inove” to “Piano Black” and I would need to change the colors of that image, instead of black, white and vice-versa and I don’t want to change that link above because I would need to tell a lot of people who are using that link of that image in their blogs to change that too.

    Anyway… Regards!

  • This is the link to your blog > http://monicaiozzinews.wordpress.com/
Your friends ought to be linking to that site URL, and not to the image URL.

  • There’s no way you can keep the same link if the image has been uploaded to your blog.* When you re-upload an image with the same name, a number will be appended to the name, to distinguish the file from the previous one (in order to avoid accidental overwriting or mixups). For example, nicepic.jpg re-uploaded will become nicepic1.jpg, next time you uplado it it will become nicepic2.jpg etc. This won’t happen only if you don’t upload the new version the same month you uploaded the previous one, but then the date in the URL will be different, so again you cannot have the same link.

    * It may be possible if you upload and replace images in third-party free file hosting sites.

Yeah “panaghiotisadam”, I already knew that… I was just wondering about a possible work-around for that.

And for “timethief”, well, that is just a banner for other blogs… the people usually like to put a nice image instead of just a link, you know with the ‘a’ and ‘img’ HTML tags. ;-)

    Thanks for the replies!
